Into the Deepsea of Sound...

Music means much more to me than playing white and black keys together in some harmonious or disharmonious accordance and order. It's more than making impressive eclectic soundscapes or sequences with some content. Music is my life. Music is my playground of emotions and at each time the mirror of my innermost being.

Gunnar Spardel was born in the northern German city of Hamburg. Growing up he took classical trombone lessons but after finding out about electronic instruments and electronic music, he decided to take Keyboard lessons.

"The very first time I came into contact with a keyboard was already at the age of 12 when I began to take keyboard lessons. Unfortunately it took more than further 3 years till I finally came into contact with my first synthesizer. That was in late 1995. I was already very familiar with the world of electronic music for years. After nearly two years of pure "experiments" and technically not well equipped I started to compose my own music and today with a look over my shoulders, I see that was definitly the right decision for me."

Back in 2006, Tigerforest won a NDR2 radio competition and received airplay on one of Germany's top stations. Tigerforest's first CD "The Sound of Life" was released in 2006 on CDBaby and saw a re-release in 2008 through Amadea Records.

The second CD "Daybreak" was also released through Amadea Records later in 2009. During that year Tigerforest was nominated for a Just Plain Folks award in Nashville / Tennesse for Best New Age Single of the year (Longing for the Sun / The Sound of Life).

Being driven by music for picture, Gunnar Spardel has also provided several themes, scores and ambient beds for numerous independent movies from all around the globe. 2008's movie Dead Men by Scott Hansen won several prices at the New York Independent Film Festival.

At once uplifting and otherworldly, the music of Tigerforest combines multilayered synthesizers with beats and ethereal vocals, serving as an aural escape route from the trappings of reality.
